Congratulations to you and the employees of Premier, Inc. on receiving the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. Your commitment to improving the quality of our nation’s health care system is admirable and worthy of this distinguished recognition.
Improving the quality and cost of health care is a major undertaking currently facing Congress. Premier’s partnership with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services on the Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration project is one example of the positive steps that can be taken to address the looming health care crisis. I commend you on this outstanding undertaking as well as your leadership in promoting best practices in ethical conduct, transparency and accountability within the health care industry.
Albert Pike once wrote of success, “He who endeavors to serve, to benefit, and improve the world, is like a swimmer, who struggles against a rapid current, in a river lashed into angry waves by the winds.
