Conference objectives
With well over 3100 attendees, the annual Breakthroughs Conference is a multi-dimensional forum providing Premier members with the best knowledge sharing opportunities in the industry and focusing on integration and collaboration in supply chain, clinical, operational and other key performance areas. Last year, peers from over 1000 organizations gathered with hundreds of suppliers, industry experts and Premier staff to share ideas and strategies that will have an immediate impact on strategic operations and outcomes.
Primary audience/attendance
Materials management directors; performance/quality improvement directors; chief executive officers; chief operating officers; chief financial officers; chief medical officers; patient care executives; HR executives; risk managers; and directors of clinical and operational departments such as: cardiology, orthopedic, surgical, pharmacy, laboratory, facilities, engineering, and foodservice.
Pre-conference events
Traditionally, several pre-conference meetings and events are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday of the meeting. These include sessions for participants of the owners who sponsor affiliate programs, and members of various Premier committees.
Educational content/program structure
Seven plenary sessions are planned with content focus as follows: One Premier update; one keynote/motivational; one clinical; one supply chain; one leadership; one healthcare trends; one closing motivational. Specific topics and speakers are under discussion for the 2009 conference.
Concurrent sessions include 15-18 tracks featuring clinical, continuum of care, foodservice, leadership, management, operational, pharmacy, risk management, safety, supply chain, technology and workforce excellence topics. Nearly all of these sessions will feature member success stories which provide an important forum for accelerating knowledge transfer. The goal of these sessions is to highlight innovation and to provide information and insights that enable Premier members to shine through their patient care and business management efforts.
Premier members may submit a case study proposal by using the online RFP process. Premier staff may also submit proposals on behalf of a member. Proposals that do not feature a Premier member cannot be considered. Proposals may not be submitted by suppliers.
Benefits of participation:
- Help accelerate knowledge transfer by sharing your successes.
- Become a resource for others who share your vision of improving care while managing costs.
- Actively help improve the health of communities across the nation.
Note that Premier pays the travel expenses (round trip coach airfare, one night's hotel, and ground transportation) for two speakers per session.
Continuing education credits
Premier plans to apply to various accrediting bodies for continuing education credit for conference and related forum sessions. Exact number of credit hours and submission requirements will be determined as agenda is finalized. As part of the RFP process, you will be asked to identify the accrediting organizations for which your presentation may qualify for credit.
