Sample descriptions
ABC Hospital successfully implemented both diagnosis and general order sets to improve the use of evidence-based care in the admission and discharge process. The success of this approach has been validated by physician feedback confirming that these sets save time and data analysis indicates these point of care reminders save lives. In this session, participants will learn how analysis of 12 months of HQID data showed improvement in outcomes when physicians used standardized orders instead of handwritten orders. Specific data for acute myocardial infarction, heart failure and community-acquired pneumonia will be discussed. Participants will also understand how to analyze data by evaluating results beyond public reporting measures to include actual patient outcomes, and electronic versions of all ABC Hospital standardized order sets will be shared.
