The HemCon Patch is a chitosan based, hemostatic dressing for hemorrhage control. It was originally developed to reduce the number of battlefield deaths due to bleeding. It controls hemodialysis bleeding after interventional and diagnostic procedures and is indicated for the control of bleeding from the skin at percutaneous needle access, vascular access and percutaneous catheter access sites. Additionally, it is one of the only hemostatic products with FDA clearance as an antibacterial barrier against a wide spectrum of microorganisms –including to MRSA and VRE.
