Mike Alkire

As chief operating officer for the Premier healthcare alliance, Mike Alkire leads the continued integration of Premier's clinical, financial and operational performance improvement offerings in supply chain, healthcare informatics, consulting and insurance management services.
Prior to serving as COO, Alkire was president of Premier Purchasing Partners, which offers group purchasing, supply chain services and resource utilization data to hospitals and health facilities nationwide. As president of Purchasing Partners since July 2006, Alkire worked with his team to deliver nearly $1.3 billion in cash distributions to its members. During the same period, Premier remained among the top group purchasing organizations in the industry as the value of supplies purchased through its contracts increased from $28 billion to more than $36 billion.
In FY11, under Alkire's leadership, Premier was able to save member hospitals nearly $1.45 billion in contracting expenses and other efficiencies. In addition, Alkire led Premier to develop world-class data applications, including tools such as SpendAdvisor®, OrthopedicAdvisor™ and Supply Chain Advisor®, allowing members to strategically identify supply chain savings opportunities.
Upon joining Premier in late 2003, Alkire worked closely with the Purchasing Partners team to develop and implement a three-year transformation plan designed to dramatically increase returns to the alliance's shareholders while building stronger relationships with members and suppliers.
Alkire is a member of the East Coast Healthcare Executive Summit and also serves on the board of the Healthcare Supply Chain Association. Alkire has more than 20 years of experience in running business operations and business development organizations at Deloitte & Touche and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young. Before joining Premier, he served in a number of leadership roles at Cap Gemini, including North American responsibilities for supply chain and high-tech manufacturing.
He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University.
