Susan D. DeVore is president and CEO of the Premier healthcare alliance, the nation's leading alliance of nonprofit hospitals, health systems and other providers dedicated to improving healthcare performance. An alliance of more than 2,400 hospitals and health systems and nearly 70,000 other healthcare delivery sites, Premier uses the power of collaboration to lead the transformation to high quality, cost-effective healthcare.

Representing nearly 40 percent of all hospitals in the country, Premier unites a fragmented healthcare system. Backed by the nation’s largest and most detailed clinical, financial and outcomes database with information on more than 309 million patient discharges, Premier measures hospital performance against peers and best performers, identifies opportunities for improvement, and tracks the results of their efforts. Premier also provides group purchasing and supply chain services to providers worth more than $36 billion in annual spend; as well as insurance management, informatics, technology and consulting services.

A world leader in helping deliver measurable improvements in care, Premier manages leading national collaboratives, including the Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration™, co-managed with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; the QUEST®: High Performing Hospitals initiative; and collaboratives to facilitate the transition to accountable care organizations in healthcare. Premier’s data is also used by the Food and Drug Administration for drug surveillance and by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to evaluate next-generation payment models.

Prior to her role as president and CEO, DeVore served as chief operating officer of Premier and president of Premier Purchasing Partners. Before joining Premier, she spent more than 20 years with Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGEY) as a senior healthcare industry management practice leader and member of the executive committee for the North American consulting organization. She also led high-tech, manufacturing and other business units of CGEY, giving her a broad understanding of business issues and solutions across multiple industries.

Under DeVore's leadership, Premier has won the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, and has been named three times as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere. DeVore has been named to Modern Healthcare's list of the 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare and to the magazine's list of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare. She is also the recipient of the 2007 Top 25 Women in Business by the Charlotte Business Journal.

DeVore is involved in the Charlotte community as a member of the Master of Health Administration Healthcare Management Advisory Board in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
