Civista Health in fast-growing DC-Maryland suburb chooses Premier as supply chain partner
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 19, 2006) — Civista Health, the 2004 recipient of the Campaign for Medicare Excellence Award from the Delmarva Foundation, has selected the Premier alliance of more than 1,400 not-for-profit hospitals as its group purchasing and supply chain services partner.
Formerly an affiliate of MedAssets, the regional, not-for-profit healthcare system joins more than 200 of the nation's leading hospital and healthcare systems that own Premier, Inc.
Anchored by the 117-bed Civista Medical Center in La Plata, MD., a fast-growing suburb of Washington, D.C., Civista Health estimates it will purchase about $10 million annually in supplies and services through Premier contracts.
“The market basket Premier did for us identified the potential to save nearly 15 percent on our supply expenses. That got our attention,” said Carolyn Core, Civista vice president of Corporate Services. “We’re moving ahead rapidly to implement contracts and improved processes so we can realize those savings as quickly as possible.”
Premier will provide Civista market-leading group contracts – including national, regional, and local contracting options – as well as support from the Premier regional team, supply chain automation tools and access to supply chain benchmarking and performance improvement resources.
