Deborah Williams joins Premier healthcare alliance to lead Supplier Diversity program
Has experience in both healthcare system and GPO contracting
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (February 26, 2008) – Deborah A. Williams has joined the Premier healthcare alliance as senior director of supplier diversity.
Based in Charlotte, N.C., Ms. Williams comes to Premier from Mills-Peninsula Health Services, a Sutter Health affiliate, in Burlingame, Calif., where she was director of contracting and value analysis. Before that, she was a medical surgical service line director for Broadlane Inc., assigned to the Kaiser Permanente account.
“Deborah Williams is a seasoned contracting professional with a strong background in supplier negotiations. She knows the process because she’s done it. That’s a strong plus as well as her experience working in a group purchasing organization,” said Premier Purchasing Partners President Mike Alkire. “She also knows Premier from a member perspective, so that will give her unique insights as she builds on our robust supplier diversity efforts already in place.
“While working at Detroit Medical Center she was a member of Premier’s Supplier Diversity committee and served on the Michigan Minority Business Development Council,” Alkire noted. “We are confident Deborah has the experience and ability to continue the momentum of our industry-leading supplier diversity initiatives.”
She will report to Sue Casey, vice president, sourcing, Premier Purchasing Partners.
Ms. Williams began her career as a contract administrator for the Detroit Medical Center and was later promoted to marketing support manager where she was a strategic sourcing manager and led the supplier diversity program for 16 acute care hospitals – 10 owned, leased or managed by the DMC and six affiliate hospitals. She earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Walsh College in Troy, Mich.
