Modern Healthcare names Premier healthcare alliance among top 10 Best Places to Work in Healthcare
Twenty-six Premier alliance hospital members part of magazine’s top 100 list
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (November 2, 2009) – The Premier healthcare alliance has been ranked among the top 10 best places to work in the healthcare industry by Modern Healthcare magazine. Twenty-six Premier alliance hospital members were also named to the 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare list.
"Premier is proud to be recognized with our alliance members by Modern Healthcare with this distinction," said Susan DeVore, Premier president and CEO. "Through our core values, we can measure what's important to our organization and employees, as well as our alliance. That's one of the reasons Premier's 1,236 employees place such an emphasis on our values of integrity, passion for performance, innovation and focus on people, and the behaviors that define them."
Modern Healthcare partnered with Best Companies Group, a Pennsylvania-based firm that administers "best places to work" programs nationwide. Modern Healthcare conducted the program to recognize outstanding employers in the healthcare industry on a national level. From economic development to employee retention, being named one of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare benefits individuals, organizations and the healthcare industry.
"Modern Healthcare congratulates all of the 100 organizations named to the magazine's list of the Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2009," said Fawn Lopez, publisher of Modern Healthcare. "These healthcare employers demonstrate that building a culture in which employees are supported and engaged benefits not only patients and customers but the employers' financial performance as well."
The program collected information from both the employer and employees and was open to all companies (providers, suppliers, payers, associations, etc.) with at least 25 employees. Employers completed a survey detailing company policies, practices, benefits and demographics. Employees were asked an in-depth set of questions that resulted in an analysis in eight core areas: leadership and planning, culture and communications, role satisfaction, working environment, relationship with supervisor, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall satisfaction.
In 2006, Premier received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest presidential honor for quality and organizational performance excellence. Premier was also recognized in 2008 and 2009 by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the World's Most Ethical Companies.
