Breakthroughs 2009
In support of our commitment to improve community health, each year, Premier seeks to recognize high-performing organizations – including members and suppliers – across the nation with a series of awards. The outstanding work of these organizations will be recognized throughout Premier's Breakthroughs Conference and Exhibition, and will be highlighted at our Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, June 17 at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Premier Award for Quality
The Premier Award for Quality recognizes leading healthcare organizations that efficiently provide outstanding patient care and consistently set the standard in clinical excellence nationwide.
Distinguished by its consideration of performance-based criteria, including clinical quality outcomes, clinical process indicators and resource utilization outcomes, Premier's Award for Quality measures top performers at the overall hospital level.

Premier Supply Chain Excellence Award
The Supply Chain Excellence Award honors member hospitals for achieving superior supply expense performance as measured by SupplyFocus.
Winners are identified using supply expense ratios for percent of total operating expense, percent of net patient revenue, adjusted patient day, and adjusted discharge. A CMI-based peer grouping methodology also is used to ensure that organizations of diverse sizes and complexity are equally considered.

Premier Supply Chain Innovation Award
The Supply Chain Innovation Award was created to honor Premier member hospitals that have developed and implemented innovative, high-impact supply chain improvement ideas in their own organizations or worked with Premier to introduce innovative improvement ideas to the alliance membership. Winning ideas must already be in place and creating value.

Premier Illuminating Excellence Award
The Illuminating Excellence award recognizes an outstanding foodservice professional to reign as Premier's foodservice director of the year. This prestigious award will be presented during the annual Culinary Creations Dinner at the Foodservice Forum.

Premier Diversity Award
Premier's Member Diversity Recognition Award honors those hospitals and health systems that have established, as a part of their social responsibility initiatives, active programs to evaluate and support minority-, women-, veteran-owned, within their local communities and contracted suppliers available through the Premier contract portfolio.
Premier's Supplier Diversity Recognition Award recognizes contracted suppliers who have made important contributions in developing and nurturing diversity programs in their organizations and healthcare communities within the Premier membership alliance.
Both Diversity Recognition Awards are selected through an application process that measures organizational engagement in supplier diversity initiatives through community involvement, diversity business outreach initiatives, benchmarking and best practices sharing.

Premier Pinnacle Award and Performance Award
Premier's Pinnacle and Performance Awards applaud the efforts of contracted suppliers in meeting or exceeding our operational expectations. In selecting recipients, performance data is collected and scored over four successive calendar quarters. Contracted suppliers scoring 95 percent or higher earn the Pinnacle Award; organizations scoring between 85 to 94 percent earn the Performance Award.

New! Premier AEIX Risk Management Award
The AEIX Risk Management award recognizes representatives of AEIX member organizations who have created practices which reduce liability and enhance quality of care. Winners are selected based on the practice's effectiveness, and its potential applicability to other health care settings, as well as the metrics used to assess effectiveness. American Excess Insurance Exchange, RRG, (AEIX) is an excess professional liability program serving Premier owners, and managed by Premier Insurance Management Services, Inc. since 1990.

The Polaris Award recognizes the Pinnacle and Performance supplier winners that exceed the expectations of Premier and its members by delivering high relationship value and customer service to member hospitals.
