The purpose of OperationsAdvisor™ Implementation Services is threefold: 1) quickly bring clients online with accurate productivity and operational benchmarking data; 2) identify valid labor opportunities; and 3) utilize a strategic approach to defining a best-in-class labor management program within the customer organization. Once data begins to flow to Premier, assigned consultants start focusing on identifying labor cost opportunities, which culminates with an onsite presentation to executive and managerial staff. Labor Management Program Assessment

Labor Management Program Assessment With our many years of experience, Premier has recognized the identification of opportunity and use of measurement tools do not, by themselves, create sustained savings. It has been our experience that organizations that have deployed focused resources and processes related to labor management, in addition to the right measurement tools, have created sustained savings over time that allow for organizational focus on additional strategic priorities. Premier specialists will devote time to assessing existing resources and tools supporting labor management and will provide recommendations for optimizing your program.

Since frequent productivity reporting, in tandem with comparative information, are key tools for workforce management, particular attention will be placed on the use of these tools. The resulting report will clearly articulate the gaps exhibited by your organization compared to best practice.

Comparative Opportunity Assessment

Premier will complete a validated comparative analysis outlining directional opportunity at the facility and department level. The comparisons will be derived from organizations exhibiting similar size, case complexity, and service offerings as the client organization.

The source of the comparative information will be Premier’s OperationsAdvisor™. This initial step will involve an on-site visit consisting of up to five days, with a follow up on-site presentation of results. During the first on-site visit, Premier specialists will spend time with each department manager focused on validating information received and discussing operating characteristics of the departments.

Evaluation/Establishment of Labor Standards

Premier specialists utilize the information collected to complete the Comparative Opportunity Assessment to examine the organization’s staffing history, interview all departmental managers, and derive suggested departmental labor standards to be utilized. Premier specialists will also provide a volume indicator analysis for each department, recognizing that many departments have more than one possible workload measure that can be utilized in measuring productivity performance.

The outcome is to provide the organization with an evaluation of any existing labor standards and to outline recommended revisions and/or develop new standards as necessary. Premier specialists will work with department leadership to create fair, meaningful, and aggressive targets for utilization within productivity reporting and/or the budget process.
