Description

During this complimentary session, our speaker, Charlotte Smith, defined pharmaceutical waste, how and where it’s generated, and the potential liabilities involved in its removal. Participants then learned why pharmaceutical waste management is such a high priority for state and federal regulatory agencies, how it relates to the Joint Commission Standards of “Environment of Care,” and the application of federal and state hazardous waste rules.

With this information as a foundation, Ms. Smith built a step-by-step process for implementing a pharmaceutical waste management program within your facility – from the initial plans, to the choice of implementation model, to the development of polices and procedures, to the final launch of the program.
