Challenge:
Premier labor resource management – Operational Opportunity Assessment benchmarked Genesis labor utilization to national median peer performance and revealed opportunity to:
- Realize a savings of 100+ FTEs
- Have departments flex to volume more timely
- Realize as much as possibly $6.6 million savings identified in opportunity assessment
Solution:
- Chose Premier’s LaborConnectTM labor management program which includes OperationsAdvisorTM and Premier’s Performance Partner ProgramTM
- Steering Committee adopted $2 million first-year savings goal
Result:
- Individual department meetings and assessments conducted by Performance Partner
- Target worked hours per unit agreed upon
- OperationsAdvisorTM productivity definitions included in FY2009 budgets
- Identified savings of $2.6 million in FY2009 because of improved labor resource management results
- Expects further labor savings in FY 2010 and to hold gains moving forward.
