Impact of adverse events – Results from Tufts-New England Medical Center study using electronic incident reporting

The next program is April 12, from 2-3 p.m. (EST): Impact of adverse events – Results from Tufts-New England Medical Center study using electronic incident reporting.

This presentation will review the types and rates of events reported by acute care hospitals using an electronic reporting system, based on the speakers' article "Voluntary Electronic Reporting of Medical Errors and Adverse Events: An Analysis of 92,547 Reports from 26 Acute Care Hospitals" in the December 2005 issue of the Journal of General Internal Medicine. The faculty will also discuss the future of incident reporting, including public reporting and claims costs.

Faculty:

  • Deeb N. Salem, M.D., Chairman of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief at the Tufts-New England Medical Center Hospital.
  • Sanjaya Kumar, M.D., M.Sc., M.P.H., President and Chief Medical Officer, Quantros, Inc and widely recognized thought leader for patient safety and continuous quality improvement with significant experience in informatics with Louisiana Health Care Review Organization, a QIO.
