AHRQ's June 6-10 Patient Safety
and Health IT Conference

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) 2005 Annual Patient Safety and Health IT Conference will be held June 6-10 at the Washington D.C. Convention Center. There is no registration fee. The conference will feature projects supported by AHRQ to improve patient safety and advance health information technology (IT) with special emphasis on best practices, lessons learned, and strategies for meeting common challenges. Highlights include:

  • June 6-7: Sessions will focus on patient safety topics such as preventing adverse drug events and infections, improving cardiac care safety, moving patients across systems of care, children’s care, safety assessments, and creating a culture of safety.
  • June 8: AHRQ Director Carolyn M. Clancy, M.D., National Coordinator for Health Information Technology David Brailer, M.D., Ph.D., members of Congress, United Health Group Senior Vice President Reed Tuckson, M.D., and others will provide perspectives on the links between health IT, patient safety, and health care quality.
  • June 9-10: Critical health IT issues, supported by the recently created AHRQ National Resource Center for Health Information Technology.

The conference is free and open to the public, but space is limited, so register now. A food fee will be charged for meals during the conference, which must be paid in advance during registration.
