New needlestick prevention brochure from Premier
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), as part of the Bloodborne Pathogen standard, requires employers to provide sharps safety devices, and on an annual basis, review new devices that are available and provide education on preventive strategies.
Premier's Safety Institute is pleased to announce the release of its Prevent Needlestick Injuries brochure to educate caregivers and their employers in all healthcare settings about preventing occupational needlesticks. This brochure is part of a broader educational outreach that includes Web-based resources.
This 12-page, easy-to-read brochure has information about:
- How needlesticks happen
- Why needlesticks are stressful to you and your family
- What safer work practices can protect you
- What the laws are for using safety devices
- What types of safety devices are available
- How to evaluate safety devices
- How to dispose of sharps safely
- What to do if you are injured
