CDC releases full environmental infection control guidelines
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the
complete 235-page Guidelines on Environmental
Infection Control in Health Care, that include background
information, recommendations and full appendices; the guideline is now
available electronically. The full document may be downloaded in its
entirety from the CDC Web site.
The guidelines include recommendations for reducing infection risk
related to air and water environmental concerns; cleaning and
disinfecting environmental surfaces; environmental culturing; laundry
and bedding; managing regulated medical waste; construction and
renovation; use of carpeting; pest control; animals in healthcare
facilities; and water quality in hemodialysis.
