Sample protocol and guideline for patients with skin rash
A sample flowchart with photos is provided as a guide in assessing patients presenting with rashes in both emergency and non-emergency department settings. The guide describes a flow of communication based on risk assessment and criteria for viral infections such as smallpox and chickenpox. This protocol may provide a model for other organizations and is provided courtesy of the Detroit Medical Center.
This checklist is provided to hospitals to help them describe and assess their present state of preparedness for chemical and biological incidents. The American Hospital Association adapted this tool from an original survey developed by Dr. David Mangelsdorff and others at the US Army-Baylor Graduate Program in Healthcare Administration.
APIC Mass Casualty Checklist
Mass Casualty Disaster Plan Checklist: A Template for Healthcare Facilities
Emergency management takes into account such factors as the appropriateness and adequacy of physical facilities, organizational structures, human resources, and communication systems. The checklist is designed to stimulate assessment and dialogue with key stakeholders, both within the facility and at the local level and beyond. Using this checklist, the infection control practitioner can assist in identifying both thought and action leaders. Although the checklist divides the assessment into sections, many of them overlap and may be grouped according to the organization and operation of individual facilities.
