American Geriatric Society – 2009 Study of fall injuries
"Unintentional Fall Injuries Associated with Walkers and Canes in Older Adults Treated in U.S. Emergency Departments" published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society June 2009 is based on 2001-2006 data from
CDC's National Electronic Injury Surveillance System All Injury Program. The articles discussed strategies to prevent falls –whether in the home or healthcare setting- related to walking aids.

ANA American Nurses Association –NursingWorld*
The National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI)®, a repository
for nursing-sensitive indicators, is a program of NCNQ®. NDNQI® is the only
database containing data collected at the nursing unit level. This site
provides a complete menu of all NDNQI® nursing-sensitive indicators,
including patient falls and patient falls with injury as defined by NQF.

Maryland Hospital Association Quality Indicator Project
Voluntary pilot project of more than 1,200 participants across four different
indicator sets: acute care, psychiatric care, long-term care and home care.
Focuses on clinical performance measures for data collectability and usefulness
in quality improvement activities. Measures include fall data frequently used
for benchmarking. Only subscribers have access to the pooled data.

Preventing Falls. In Health Hints. 2001;5(2). This issue of Health Hints focuses on reducing fall risks for older
adults and is an excellent compilation of practical information and resources.
It is developed jointly by Texas Cooperative Extension, Texas A&M University
System and Health Science Center School of Rural Public Health.
National Resource Center on Aging and Injury (NRCAI): Resources on
preventing falls
NRCAI is a collaborative effort between the University Center on Aging,
College of Health and Human Services at San Diego State University and the
American Society on Aging, San Francisco, California, funded by the CDC, National Center for Injury Prevention and
Control, Atlanta, Georgia.
