CONFRONTING BURNOUT

The National Academies launched a new committee focusing on clinician burnout.

What we’re saying: Medical group leaders are confronting the challenges of burnout amid evolving market realities, such new competitors, payment models, quality measures, regulatory complexities, declining reimbursement and limited resources. And we totally get it. Our health system members are feeling the burn, which is why they’re working with innovative practice leaders to navigate the maze of hospital-clinician alignment and improve overall performance for their physicians, organization and patients.

ROUNDING THE TROOPS

Health system leaders from Premier’s Population Health Management and Bundled Payment Collaboratives came together in D.C. last week to share best practices and meet with other industry stakeholders.

What we’re saying: Each year, hundreds of healthcare experts across the nation meet face-to-face as part of Premier collaboratives to transparently share trending best practices and accelerate industry transformations and improvements. During the meeting, participants heard from industry experts about using disruptive innovation to their advantage, achieving success and synergies with clinically integrated networks, ACOs and bundled payment models, effective chronic care management strategies, technologies that support value-based care models, successfully engaging with physicians, partnering with community-based organizations, and direct-to-employer contracts, among other things. Members that have achieved success shared their best practices with others, step by step; payers came to share their insights and get member feedback on where they can improve; and government representatives provided updates on regulatory policies to keep members in the know. This is how Premier members outperform their peers – by sharing and replicating what works.
