Premier Submits Comments to CMS RFI on Regulatory Burden

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has driven significant efforts to reduce burden over the last two years as part of their Patients Over Paperwork initiative. Earlier this summer, CMS released a request for information from the public on additional areas that the agency should explore in the next phase of the initiative. Premier submitted a comment letter to CMS encouraging CMS to:

• Continue to support innovation to enable providers have real-time access to Medicare, Medicaid and Medicare Advantage data at the point of care.
• Strengthen the stability and structure for alternative payments models (APMs) through establishing a regular proposed change and comment period for each APM and addressing model overlaps and giving precedence to total-cost-of-care APMs
• Reform legal barriers to coordinated care
• Streamline and unify quality reporting requirements and improve accuracy of hospital Star Ratings
