Premier Supports Including Unique Device Identifiers in the Claims Form

Premier submitted a letter strongly supporting the recommendation of X12—the body responsible for recommending changes to the standard electronic claims forms—to capture on the claims form unique device identifiers. Claims provide longitudinal information on patient care delivery and outcomes across the continuum of care, sites and providers. Including device identifiers in claims will improve our understanding of device effectiveness, ensure patient safety related to adverse events and achieve supply chain efficiencies.
