Premier applauds the House Energy and Commerce Committee for advancing the Integrity, Notification, and Fairness in Online Retail Marketplaces for Consumers (INFORM) Act (H.R. 5502), introduced by Chairwoman Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) and Ranking Member Gus Bilirakis (R-FL). During the pandemic, a legitimate surge in demand and the fear of product shortages that spurred panic buying and hoarding put unprecedented stress on the normal supply chain. The INFORM Act takes crucial steps to protect consumers who are vulnerable to these predatory and costly practices by increasing the transparency and accountability of high-volume third-party sellers of consumer products in online retail marketplaces.
Premier’s online marketplace, stockd fully complies with these requirements, which should be the baseline for all high-volume third-party sellers of consumer products in online retail marketplaces. As such, Premier supports the INFORM Act, which will ensure consumers feel confident that they are purchasing safe, efficacious products from legitimate manufacturers and sellers when navigating any online marketplace for medical or other consumer products.
