Members of the Premier alliance stand ready to work with Congress and the Trump Administration to build the next generation of healthcare policy. We strongly agree with the President that change to the status quo is not only necessary, but timely, and we support his pledge to provide Medicaid resources and flexibility to make sure no one is left out.
Ultimately, lowering insurance costs requires addressing the twin challenges of improving healthcare quality while safely reducing costs of care. To do this, we call on Congress and the Administration to continue to take steps to move away from the antiquated fee-for-service reimbursement in favor of value-based payment models that provide flexibility and incent healthcare innovation.
Members of Premier have been building and testing value-based care in the public and private sector for more than 15 years. We have proven that these models, if properly structured, can deliver on the promise of better, more cost-effective care. We need continued reforms to move this important work forward.
