During his 20 years in healthcare, Chris Smedley has focused on the physician enterprise as a leader in in both practice plan and consulting environments.
His experience includes administering practice plan operations, as well as overseeing the delivery of comprehensive engagements at academic medical centers and health systems throughout the U.S. Smedley has specialized expertise in the areas of physician solutions, children’s hospitals and cancer centers.
Throughout his career Smedley has worked with over 40+ healthcare organizations to improve the delivery of care and patient outcomes. In doing so, he has developed extensive expertise with respect to addressing the change management aspects within physician organizations. Smedley brings a unique focus that enables the achievement of targeted performance improvement outcomes while enhancing the engagement and satisfaction of patients, providers and staff.
Most recently, Smedley served as a managing director within Huron Consulting Group, where he helped to develop the largest dedicated Physician Solutions Team in the U.S. Before joining Huron, Smedley was a member of Accenture’s healthcare consulting practice, where he was responsible for the oversight of the associated physician services engagements. His industry experience includes serving as the executive administrator for the cancer service line at UPMC and finance director and administrator for the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Smedley holds a master’s in public management from Carnegie Mellon and a bachelor’s degree in health management systems from Duquesne University.
